But we cannot guarantee: that trials will match your pet's specific situation, that matched trials will accept your pet (research teams make that determination independently), that trials will be currently enrolling, or final enrollment or outcomes.

If matches are found and you proceed, we submit the application and handle initial contact. What happens after that is the research team's decision.

Your $7 fee includes 90-day monitoring. We'll:

Fully funded means the research team covers the cost of the treatment course after enrollment is confirmed. However, some fully funded trials require a one-time upfront cost before the funded portion begins — typically a baseline diagnostic (a specific image or lab result the study needs at the start) or a general consultation with the research team. Once past those initial requirements, the full course of treatment is covered by the study. Always ask the coordinator for a written summary of what is and isn't covered at the first visit before committing.

Partially funded trials cover the majority of costs, but some expenses fall to the owner. This takes one of two forms depending on the study: a per-patient budget (the study covers up to a fixed amount — anything beyond is owner-paid), or specific portions covered (certain treatments, visits, or diagnostics are included; others are not). The covered vs. uncovered split is defined by the trial protocol and varies by study. You'll receive a full cost breakdown from the coordinator before any commitment to enrollment is made.

Not-funded trials require the owner to cover the full cost of treatment — but that doesn't mean they lack value. Not-funded studies frequently offer access to drugs and therapies not yet approved by the FDA, treatments your pet cannot receive outside of a trial setting, and close monitoring by a specialized veterinary research team throughout treatment. Owners who choose not-funded trials are typically doing so because the treatment itself — not cost savings — is the reason. Costs vary significantly by study. The coordinator will provide a full estimate before enrollment is discussed.
